In anaphase, during chromosome segregation, is recruited to the central microtubule bundle, focussed at the spindle midzone and ultimately localizes to the midbody at cytokinesis. Constituent of the midbody cytoskeletal matrix. Colocalized with desmoplakin at desmosomal junctional plaques in cultured epithelial cells
